Grand Prix Victor Echeverry-Alzate

Grand Prix Aurelia Gay

Grand Prix Benoit Schreck

Three Grands Prix were presented on Thursday, June 7, at the ALBATROS Addictology Congress.

The ALBATROS Grand Prize for original research at been delivered to:

Victor Echeverry-Alzate,
INSERM U1247, Amiens: “Revisiting baclofen in the treatment of alcoholism: just a question of enantiomer? “
The risk benefit of baclofen in the treatment of alcohol dependence remains controversial. It is important to better characterize the factors that influence efficacy and adverse effects, as well as the variability of individual responses. Recent data show that the effect of baclofen may depend on the enantiomer. This is the whole purpose of Victor Echeverry-Alzate’s study. His work in rats shows that R (+) – baclofen may be more effective than (±) -baclofen in the treatment of alcohol dependence. Data analysis is underway to determine whether the efficacy of baclofen is dependent on individual characteristics.

Members of the jury:
Georges Brousse, Clermont Ferrand University Hospital
Olivier Cottencin, Lille University Hospital
Amine Benyamina, Paul Brousse Hospital, Villejuif

The CAMURUS Grand Prize for the best clinical innovation was awarded to:

Aurélia Gay ,
CHU de Saint-Etienne: “Interest of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in gambling addiction”

The ban on gambling and gambling is a common and debilitating condition for which no biological treatment has been validated. Aurélia Gay worked on a study in pathological gamblers, which showed the effectiveness of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on craving. It was carried out on 22 pathological gamblers, who received an active high-frequency rTMS session and a placebo session 7 days apart, applied to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (CPFDL). Before and after each session, subjects performed cognitive tests and rated their craving on a visual analog scale before and after a video game. The results show that rTMS is a promising therapeutic avenue in addictive disorders.
