Biographie

Laurent Castera, MD, PhD, FAASLD, is a professor of hepatology at Université Paris – Cité in the Department of Hepatology at Hôpital Beaujon (Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris) in Clichy, France. His research interests include non-invasive tests for assessing liver fibrosis and diagnosing and treating MASH. In 2015, Dr. Castera chaired the first international EASL-ALEH Clinical Practice Guidelines on the use of non-invasive tests. Dr. Castera has published over 300 papers in peerreviewed international journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA, Nature Medicine, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Gut, Diabetes Care, Hepatology, and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CGH). Dr. Castera served on the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Scientific Committee from 2011 to 2013 and on the UEG Council from 2017 to 2021. From 2012 to 2015, he served on the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) board, including as Secretary General from 2015 to 2017. Since 2022, he has served as an associate editor for CGH. Since 2026, he has been the organizer and co-chair of the Paris International Liver Meeting with Dr. Zobair Younossi (USA).
